About the President
Our Brother President
Brother Iñigo Riola FSC is an educator and a member of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, commonly known in the Philippines as the De La Salle Brothers. He currently serves as President of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas.
He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary's College of California. He also earned a master's degree in history, teaching credentials, and a bachelor's degree in business management from De La Salle University, Manila. In addition, he pursued graduate studies in Religious Education at the Loyola School of Theology, Ateneo de Manila University.
Brother Iñigo concurrently serves as the Auxiliary Visitor of the Lasallian East Asia District (LEAD), where he helps foster the Lasallian educational mission across the region. In this role, he works closely with the De La Salle Brothers and Lasallian Partners in Myanmar, Japan, and Hong Kong. He also oversees the brothers' formation houses in Myanmar, Thailand, and the Philippines.
Throughout his ministry, Brother Iñigo has held various leadership, pastoral, and formation roles. He taught in several Lasallian schools in the Philippines and later served as President and Principal of St. Jaime Hilario School-De La Salle Bataan. He was involved in Vocation Ministry for both the Philippine Sector and the Lasallian District of San Francisco, New Orleans.
He also served as Bursar of the De La Salle Brothers in the Philippines, as a member of the Finance and Investment Board of De La Salle Brothers, Inc., and as a member of the Investment Committee of De La Salle Philippines. He was Chair of the Community Directors' Association of the De La Salle Brothers in the Philippines. He also worked in formation as Coordinator of the Apostolic Training Program for young Brothers in the Philippines.
As Auxiliary Visitor, Brother Iñigo has been instrumental in raising funds for the Lasallian mission in Myanmar and has played a key role in establishing a new Lasallian educational ministry in Yangon, which aims to provide learning opportunities for young people in a challenging environment. He also supported the Sector of Japan in the creation of its Sector Mission Council, which is tasked with overseeing the Lasallian mission in Japan, particularly the development and implementation of formation programs for Lasallian Partners and students.

Dear Lasallians,
Peace!
Last September 18, I attended as online talk on Lasallian Reflection No. 12: Building a Fraternal World given by Br. Chuy Rubio FSC, Director of the Pacific Asia Regional Novitiate. During the conversation, Br. Chuy said something that caught my attention: "Lasallian education is never neutral"
I have been thinking about those words as we commemorate September 21, the anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law by former President Ferdinand E. Marcos. What does it mean to say that Lasallian education is never neutral? For me, it begins with something fundamental: we stand for truth. And truth is not neutral
Facts do not change, whether they are convenient to us or not. Events in our history cannot change simply because we would prefer to remember them differently. When human dignity has been violated, we must acknowledge what happened and learn from it.
This does not mean that a university should tell its students what position to take. It is the opposite. Education should give our students the freedom and ability to think for themselves. We teach them to ask difficult questions, examine evidence, distinguish fact from opinion, understand context, and listen to different perspectives. This freedom to inquire must always be accompanied by a search for the truth
And this is why remembering matters. More than five decades have passed since Martial Law was declared. For most of our students, this is already history. They encounter it in books, family stories, and social media, often with competing interpretations of the past. Our responsibility as a university is to help them go beyond popular opinion or whoever has the loudest voice and to look carefully at evidence and historical records
This connects with our aspiration to build a fraternal university. Brotherhood and sisterhood are not about pretending that we all agree or avoiding difficult truths for the sake of harmony. Genuine fraternity allows us to face the truth together, listen to one another, and disagree without forgetting the dignity of the person before us.
Lasallian education is never neutral because our mission calls us to seek what is true and to uphold the dignity of every human person. May we have the humility to seek the truth, the wisdom to recognize it, and the courage to live by it.
