Master of Arts in English as a Second Language
The Master of Arts in English as a Second Language program develops among its students the theoretical, philosophical, and pedagogical foundations of teaching English as a Second Language, and the competencies for teachers of English as a Second Language. As such, students are expected to be equipped with scholarly knowledge to effectively handle classes at all levels of the academe, likewise, to become consultants and experts in the discipline.

Program Goals
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
demonstrate mastery of theoretical, philosophical, and pedagogical perspectives of ESL within the context of a global community;
evaluate paradigms and practices in the use of English within the Asian region;
demonstrate advanced competencies for ESL teachers;
conduct innovative and sustainable research responsive to the needs of one’s community; and
exhibit Lasallian identity by integrating Christian perspectives like honesty, fairness, truth, and integrity.

Comprehensive Exam
Passing the Written Comprehensive Examination (WCE) upon completion of the basic, major and cognate courses.
Publication in a nationally or internationally refereed and indexed journal.
The student must have at least one publication with a publication date that is within the student’s residency in the program reflecting the name of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas as the student’s institutional affiliation.
