About the Juris Doctor Program
The College of Law offers a four-year Juris Doctor (JD) program comprising 139 units, designed in full compliance with the Legal Education Board's (LEB) latest JD Model Curriculum. The program features a comprehensive structure that includes mandatory Bar subjects, elective courses, and specialized Bar review subjects. To ensure robust practical legal training for our students, the curriculum integrates the Supreme Court-mandated Clinical Education Program and a summer apprenticeship component, providing students with essential hands-on experience in legal practice.
Program Curriculum
The Juris Doctor curriculum spans four academic years and includes foundational law subjects, specialized law courses, clinical legal education, electives, and comprehensive review and integration courses.
Key components include:
- Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Labor Law, Commercial Law, Taxation Law, and Remedial Law
- Clinical Legal Education Program
- Review and Integration courses in the final year
- Elective courses such as Human Rights Law, Data Privacy Protection, Media and Technology Law, Environmental Law, and Agrarian Law
The curriculum is structured per semester from First Year to Fourth Year, including a Special Term.
Career Pathways or Graduate Outcomes
- Legal Practice – JD graduates may become litigators or corporate lawyers who represent clients, draft contracts, and handle court or transactional work.
- Government Legal Service – They can serve as prosecutors, public attorneys, legal officers, or research staff in national agencies like DOJ, PAO, OSG, and Ombudsman.
- Judiciary & Court Services – Graduates may work as court attorneys, law clerks, or judicial staff supporting judges in drafting decisions and conducting legal research.
- Corporate Compliance & Regulatory Affairs – They can join private companies as compliance officers, data privacy officers, or regulatory specialists ensuring adherence to laws and policies.
- Policy & Legislative Work – JD graduates may assist lawmakers by drafting bills, analyzing legal impacts, and supporting public-sector policy development.
- Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) – They may work in global LPO firms performing contract review, eDiscovery, and legal documentation for foreign clients.
- NGOs & International Organizations – Graduates can join advocacy groups or global institutions working on human rights, development, and social justice initiatives.
- Business, HR & Consulting – JD graduates can apply legal reasoning to roles in human resources, management consulting, real estate, or business strategy.
