Bachelor of Arts in Digital and Multimedia Journalism
While the AB Broadcast Journalism Program of DLSU-D is not attracting enough students for the past years, the Communication and Journalism Department of the College of Liberal Arts has had the opportunity to make it stronger and more relevant to guarantee employability. The program can compete locally and internationally given its PAASCU level 4 accreditation given the competent graduates it has produced and its distinctive nature. But to stay relevant necessitates a need to recalibrate to be responsive to the evolving industry needs and constant incline in career opportunities here and abroad.
Changing the name of Broadcast Journalism to Digital and Multimedia Journalism was a move to align the program to the evolving and enormous diversity of online media across the globe for a journalism program that is inclined with multimedia narratives, content, and services. Media industries and allied fields are now continuously adapting to the digital landscape while retaining their distinctive skills as storytellers across traditional and multimedia platforms. Thus, by innovating the nomenclature of the University’s journalism program, CJD aspires to be at the forefront not only in region but elsewhere in the world.
This undergraduate-level program aims to prepare students for careers across various rapidly changing media landscapes, ranging from newspapers, and magazines to radio, television and online by acquiring practical, professional, and ethical journalism skills. It is a hybrid program that is strongly built on the foundations of journalism, broadcasting, communication, and multimedia arts where students will explore and be trained to immersive, digital and multimedia environment and build their portfolio in various platforms to flourish in the digital age.
