Bachelor of Science in Architecture

The DLSU-D Bachelor of Science in Architecture (BSARC) program is geared towards producing architects who are socially, technically, and environmentally sensitive to the enduring development of the architectural profession as well as to the development of construction industry. The students will be comprehensively trained in the various dimensions of professional practice such as design, planning, and construction management in the local and global setting. 

Graduates may start to undertake the two-year “diversified experience” which is a requirement before taking the board examination for architects. Aside from that, they may decide to enrich themselves with allied professions by acquiring licenses/s in Masters in Plumbing (Plumbing Engineering), Landscape Architecture, and others. After passing the board examination, graduates may find employment in the academy as architectural educators, in construction as managers, in any industry as building administrators, planners, physical facilities or utility system consultants. In addition, licensed graduates may consider organizing their own architectural firms where they can offer architecture expertise.

DLSUD BS Architecture professionals are expected to perform the following: 

  • Establish their personal architectural office, or a construction company and hold the position as principal architect;

 

Program Outcomes:

  • By the time of graduation, the students of the program shall be able to: 

  • Apply knowledge of architectural planning and design, building technologies and building utilities in actual projects. 

  • Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors; 

  • Communicate technical matters effectively;  

  • Analyze and give logical solutions to individual architectural design problems in terms of concepts, space programming and aesthetics. 

  • Produce immediate design solutions possible site scenarios. 

  • Work effectively in collaboration with allied professionals even in multi-cultural set-ups. 

  • Recognize, conceptualize, and propose reasonable plans for architectural problems. 

  • Establish professionalism and ensure his/her social and ethical responsibility. 

  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing using the English language. 

  • Engage in life-long learning and an understanding of the need to keep current of the developments in the specific field of practice. 

  • Provide architectural solutions based on knowledge of classical and contemporary issues. 

  • Use the modern presentation techniques necessary for architectural practice and is capable of updating his/her skills to cope up with the continuously changing trends in architecture and design. 

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of architecture and management principles that will be beneficial to both national and local issues. 

  • Creatively incorporate the spirit of faith, zeal for service and communion in mission with the performance of every design application.
