Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

The DLSU-D Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) program centers on the design, development, manufacture, and operations of a wide variety of energy conversion and machine systems.

The program aims to develop knowledge of materials, systems design and control, and production methods to design complex systems. BS ME graduates may find employment in technical and management positions in areas of manufacturing, maintenance, and power generation, ranging from draftsmen, designers, mechanics maintenance planners, supervisors, or managers.

Program Goals

Program Goals

The Industrial Engineering program shall produce professionals who:

  1. have successfully applied core industrial engineering knowledge and skills in industrial engineering or a related field;

  2. contribute to improving efficiency, productivity and/or quality of products manufactured or services provided by their organization;

  3. successfully pursue advanced professional degrees, graduate studies in industrial engineering, professional training, or engineering certification; and

  4. demonstrate professional and intellectual growth as managers and leaders in industrial engineering, society, and their communities.

Program Outcomes

By the time of graduation, the students of the program shall be able to:

  1. apply knowledge of mathematics, physical and information sciences, and engineering sciences to the practice of industrial engineering;

  2. design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data;

  3. design, build, improve, and install systems or processes which are efficient, effective, as well as robust to meet desired needs within identified constraints;

  4. work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams;

  5. recognize, formulate, and solve engineering problems;

  6. recognize professional, social, and ethical responsibility;

  7. effectively communicate orally and in writing using the English language;

  8. understand the effects of engineering solutions in a comprehensive context;

  9. engage in lifelong learning and an understanding of the need to keep current developments in the specific field of specialization;

  10. use the techniques, skills, and engineering tools necessary for engineering and business practice;

  11. perform services in the form of analysis, design, preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, and implementation of work standards, statistical process control systems, production planning and materials control systems, manufacturing and service facilities, operations research models for production and operations, and/or information systems;

  12. understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, demonstrate knowledge of, and need for sustainable development; and

  13. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
