Developing Civic Responsibility and Leadership

Developing Civic Responsibility and Leadership

At DLSU‑D, the National Service Training Program (NSTP) develops students’ sense of civic duty and defense preparedness. Two components guide your path:

  • ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) prepares students for national defense roles through leadership, discipline, and field training.

  • CWTS (Civic Welfare Training Service) builds civic consciousness through hands‑on community service that advances the common good.

Grounded in the Lasallian Core Values—Faith, Zeal for Service, and Communion in Mission—NSTP immerses students in programs that benefit both campus and community.

Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC)

What you’ll gain: training in the rudiments of military service, leadership development, discipline, teamwork, and readiness to serve during national emergencies. Graduates become part of the AFP reserve components, with pathways to commissionship.

Course Sequence

  • NSTP‑ROTC 101 (ROTC 1): Foundations of military training for national defense preparedness and support to socio‑economic development.

  • NSTP‑ROTC 102 (ROTC 2): Application of ROTC 1 theories in field and classroom settings; deepening leadership, patriotism, camaraderie, obedience, and teamwork.

Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS)

What you’ll experience: classroom learning + dynamic community engagement. Guided by experienced faculty from diverse fields, CWTS develops student community development workers who partner with institutions and communities—often in coordination with the Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC)—to drive social transformation.

Course Sequence

  • G‑NSTP001: Introduces civic consciousness—nationalism, patriotism, social responsibility, servant leadership, and good citizenship—preparing students for deeper community engagement.

  • G‑NSTP002: Plans and implements community service initiatives in health, education, livelihood, pastoral, self‑governance, and disaster preparedness—aligning personal capabilities with community needs.
