The MALETA Project—representing Museo de La Salle, Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo-Information Resource Center, Lasallian Community Development Center, and the Languages and Literature Department of the College of Liberal Arts and Communication—embodies the principle of “Engage, Transform, and Access.” This innovative initiative redefines community engagement by bringing library and museum services directly to underserved communities, bridging gaps in literacy, creativity, and digital access.

The MALETA project envisions creating lasting impact by addressing literacy gaps and promoting holistic development in partner communities by:

  • Enhance Literacy and Learning Outcomes:
Improve reading proficiency and reduce learning poverty among children by delivering structured reading sessions, access to leveled books, and consistent literacy activities in underserved communities.

  • Promote Digital Inclusion and Information Literacy:
Provide equitable access to technology and develop digital citizenship skills through MALETA Tech Kits, digital training, and guided sessions for learners and community facilitators.

  • Expand Access to Cultural, Educational, and Wellness Resources:
Bring mobile library and museum services to multiple communities, offering books, cultural exhibits, creative workshops, and integrated health and nutrition support to foster holistic child development.
