Established in 1988, the Night College was created to provide high-quality education to indigent individuals and employees, helping them reach their full academic and personal potential.
Education for All: An Idea Rooted in History
The foundation of the DLSU-D Night College is deeply rooted in the revolutionary vision of St. John Baptist de La Salle. In 17th-century France, St. La Salle challenged the elite-driven education system by establishing schools that taught in the common vernacular—making quality learning accessible to poor and working-class children who had long been excluded from formal education.
This pioneering belief—that education should be inclusive and transformative regardless of social or financial status—continues to drive the mission of the Night College today.
Originally known as the Free Evening Class Scholarship Program under the College of Business, the Night College began as an immediate response to the needs of University employees when the La Salle Brothers took over the former Emilio Aguinaldo College. Under the leadership of the late Br. Andrew Gonzalez, FSC, the program was created to help employees who worked during the day and attended classes in the evening to complete their college degrees.
Over time, the program expanded its reach to include indigent youth from nearby communities and partner institutions. It also broadened its academic offerings beyond business programs to courses from various colleges across the University.
Today, the Night College operates under the Office of the Vice Provost for Academics, with overall guidance from Mary Felidora Florinor M. Amparo. Its day-to-day operations are managed by Director Marvin M. Vivar, who ensures the program remains faithful to its core purpose: providing free college education to working students in Cavite.

Who Can Apply?
The Night College welcomes motivated individuals who demonstrate discipline, resilience, and a strong desire to succeed.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Resident of the Province of Cavite
- At least 18 years old
- High School or Senior High School graduate with a minimum GPA of 85%
- Permanently or probationarily employed at the time of enrollment
- Minimum-wage earner or from a low-income household
Must pass the DLSU-D Entrance Examination

DLSU-D Night College DreamKeepers Project
The DreamKeepers Project is a support initiative designed to help Night College scholars overcome financial and socio-economic barriers that threaten their ability to continue their studies.
Despite minimal tuition fees, many scholars—often employed in low-paying or menial jobs—struggle with daily living and schooling costs. Data from the Office of the University Registrar shows a total attrition of 23 students over two academic years, underscoring the urgent need for sustained support.
To serve as a dedicated support mechanism that provides targeted financial, technological, and learning assistance to Night College scholars at most risk of dropping out.
Donations and resources are allocated to address scholars’ most essential needs:
Transportation Assistance – Daily commuting expenses
School Fees Support – Coverage of remaining minimal fees
Health and Emergency Aid – Medicines, calamity, or disaster-related assistance
Technological & Learning Resources – Computers, printers, supplies, and a shared learning space for academic work
